We would like to draw your attention to some recent Christian publications, which are in stock at Good Books:
Does my Soul look Big in this by Rosemary Lain-Priestly. (£9.99)
Described by one reviewer on Amazon as “a compelling picture of authentic spirituality”, it engages with such questions as: Does my life have a point? Do things really have to change? Am I happy enough? Will I ever be ‘in’ with the ‘in crowd’? Where on earth is home?
Life without Limits by Nick Vujicic. (£9.99)
The author was born without arms or legs. Here he describes his childhood, teenage and young adult years, and explains how his faith sustains him. In the wake of the thrill of the Paralympics last year, this could be an inspiring read for all of us.
Mud, Sweat and Tears by Bear Grylls. (£7.99)
Best known as the TV adventurer who has the most incredible outdoor survival skills, Bear Grylls is also a committed Christian, and here tell the story of his life. An inspiration for any would-be adrenalin junkies out there!
Walking with Gospel Women by Fiona Stratta. (£7.99)
Fiona Stratta is a local author and this is a book of meditations, focussing on the point of view of the women in the Gospels. This could be of particular interest to anyone considering the BRF Quiet Day, At the Feet of Jesus, run by the author. This is on 20th April in Warminster – leaflets about it are available at Good Books.
And some slightly older books….
Tom Wright’s book Acts for Everyone is a great read to consider as we start thinking about what to read as Pentecost approaches. As many of you will have found, this series is scholarly, yet accessible – a fantastic resource both to read and to recommend. It is in two parts, priced at £9.99 each.
And finally, Mission-shaped and Rural: Growing Churches in the Countryside is by Sally Gaze, who is a Team Rector in Norfolk and well aware of the challenges facing churches in village and rural locations. This could be a helpful read if we are concerned about dwindling congregations away from what may appear to be more vibrant big city churches. This is at the sale price of £3.50.
Please remember that we can order any book which is in print (and quite a few which are out of print, too!). Please do come into the shop for a browse and a chat.
